What Information Is Needed for a Jewelry Manufacturing Quote?

The way to get an accurate, comparable quote from a jewelry manufacturer is to give complete information at the start. An incomplete brief lengthens the back-and-forth and can cause the quote to change later. This article lists the information to prepare when requesting a quote for contract or custom-design jewelry manufacturing.

Product type and reference images

State the product type clearly: ring, necklace, earring, bracelet or men's jewelry. If possible, attach a reference photo, sketch or CAD file. If you have no design, send examples you like; the workshop team evaluates them for size and construction. Customer-specific designs are never produced for others, and a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is signed on request. For the general process, see our How we work page.

Metal and karat

Do you want gold, silver or a mixed series? In gold, the karat and color (yellow, white, rose) are among the main items of the quote; in silver, 925 is preferred. Because the karat choice affects both cost and durability, if you are undecided take a look at our 14K vs 18K guide. Every product is delivered with a karat hallmark.

Stone details

For stone-set products, state the stone type (diamond, lab-grown diamond, colored stone), the cut and the approximate size. Diamonds and lab-grown diamonds are delivered with GIA or IGI certificates; if you expect a certificate, mention it at the quotation stage. Our stone setting, plating and finishing page explains the setting options.

Size and details

Ring size, chain length, clasp type, width and thickness determine the workmanship and the amount of metal used. If you have no exact size, give a target range; it is settled at the sample stage.

Surface and plating

State your surface preferences, such as polished, matte, brushed or black rhodium, and any plating expectation. For dark finishes you can read our black rhodium guide.

Quantity plan

Write the estimated quantity and whether you will place the order at once or in parts. The minimum quantity varies by model and workmanship and is confirmed in writing at the quotation stage. If you want to start small, see our low-quantity production page. We do not give figures in this article.

Brand and packaging

If you will sell under your own brand, add your requests for logo stamping, labels and packaging. See the private label page for details.

Destination country and payment

State the destination country at the start; international shipments are sent insured. For payment, a deposit is taken when the order is confirmed and the balance is paid on delivery. Details such as payment method and currency are settled together at the quotation stage.

Sample

Samples are paid; if an order is placed, the amount paid is deducted from the order total. We recommend moving to series production after you have reviewed the sample and approved details such as size, stone seat, finish and clasp.

Why are price and time not given here?

Price, production time and minimum quantity vary by product, so they are not included in this article; they are confirmed in writing at the quotation stage.
